Omaha Group Seeks Smoking Ban in Apartments

An Omaha-based anti-tobacco organization has launched an advertising campaign with the goal of convincing apartment owners to prohibit smoke in their buildings. The Metro Omaha Tobacco Action Coalition is working with local fire departments to highlight the potential dangers that can exist when tobacco product are not properly handled when being used. Ralston, Nebraska Fire Chief Kyle Ienn told the Omaha World-Herald that over 1,000 fatalities occur across the country each year as a result of fires caused by smoking materials.
